Feet and Toes Research and Noo Lite
by Mad Sweeney inthis has been discussed in the district convention thread but i felt like all the "toes" info would be nice to see in one place.
[from the late 1950s through most of the 1970s the toes of the image meant all coexisting powers and governments at the time of the end].
35 but there was a final or completing part of the symbolic image, namely, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

Zone overseer visit in middle Europe Lösch GB member talk
by inbetween inthousands of witnesses carried by car or mostly busses joined the great worship of the gb, oh sorry jehovah.. here is a short summary of the talk given by losch: (my thoughts in brackets).
1) the beginning was mostly about closing branches, kingdom halls etc, but all a proof of gods spirit of course.. then some experiences, you find in a yearbook type as well,.
2) obey the slave, even if you dont fully understand, he compared it with a child trusting their parents (quit condescending, sheeple are like dumb children, mama org will think for them).

Today's WT Study Stupidity About Df'ing
by metatron inin today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.

@gorbatov:
no disfellowshipping in the netherlands? where do you get this information? because it is so not true!
i have to be very careful these days... my mum found out that i posted on a facebook account of a member from this site about an ex-meeting. i went to an ex-meeting from a dutch site last week. and although they know my doubts and they know i haven't been to the meetings since august, they just want to pretend i come back. so they read that and she blocked me on facebook and sent me a nasty textmessage. i didn't respond to that, so my dad left a message on my voicemail saying 'you must talk to the elders about it, or i will talk about it'
so my own dad will turn me in on the gestapo... we will see what happens.

For British exjws: how has your view of the Royal Family etc changed
by jean-luc picard inwith the royal wedding in the news,.
has your perspective of the royal family, her majesty the queen, the national anthem, and maybe politics in general, changed since you left the borg?.
even if you're not british, would you say you are more patriotic now?.

i love harry! he is so naughty... and has got red hair, which i looooove...
;-)
okay, i have calmed down now. i have always been interested in royalty in europe. my mum and i used to watch all the weddings all day on the tv. and today it is queensday in the netherlands, the birthday of the most loved queen juliana (died). the whole country is colored in orange and the whole royal family will visit a town who organised a lot of activities to do. we used to watch that all morning with some orange cake :-p and go out to party with my friends later. amsterdam is madness!! it is so busy, people dancing on boats in the canal, drinking loads of beer. i love it! ;-)
it has not changed for me, but i remember kids in my congregation who had to stay inside and could not join us to the fair, because it would be celebrating a birthday.

Were you SPANKED?
by unshackled indon't get all excited...i don't mean lastnight.
spankings were a regular occurence in my family, and don't think that was uncommon for born-in jws.
my parents loved the line "we spank you because we love you.
-
Lady Viola
Yes, I was spanked as well... but I was a very naughty little girl, very very naughty! I did made a lot of people laugh though, because I was also very 'original'. ;-) I used to sit backwards all through the meeting making faces and telling jokes to the row behind me: my audience, driving my parents mad... I just would not listen at all.
At one point my dad took me to the back carrying me under his arm while I screamed 'Jehovah, help me!' and the whole congregation was laughing. I also remember my dad telling me that I was about 2 years old and an elderly sister in the hall gave me a bar of chocolate (not a very good idea to give to a 2-year-old) and he said 'please me careful, you are wearing a white dress'. I just looked him straight in the eye while rubbing the chocolate bar all over my dress. :P

Mother-in-law sends some reasoning on wedding anniversaries vs birthdays...
by garyneal inmother-in-law sends my wife a thank you card because she did something nice for her mom on their 33rd wedding anniversary.
they went out to eat dinner, a cake was provided, and everyone had a good time.
frankly, all that was needed was the candles and a song and it would be no different than a birthday party.

can somebody find one positive story about dogs in the bible?
there isn't one.
so you can't keep a dog as a pet.

when you were in, could you imagine yourself in the new system?
by breathing ini never could, like some others described, i could never ever see myself there, i just couldnt imagine it at all,.
i wonder if that was a sign that deep down i didnt believe it?.
-
Lady Viola
Off course... And I also thought I would never die in this 'system'. I thought that I wouldn't make it to High School, Uni, Marriage etc. and now I am 30!!
It hit me really really hard last year that I could loose my dad. (he turned 71 on Saturday)... That he could actually die. I have told this to my best mate, who isn't a JW's and she was in shock!
I always thought that we would enter Paradise after armageddon together (hand in hand and skipping probably). I really grieved last year about my dad (and my mum too, but she is 55), I grieved as if he already passed away, that is how it felt.
